Masking or Redirecting Me.com address?

Hi there!
How are you guys? Wonder if someone can help me with this basic question about iweb and domains...

I have an Iweb site and a bluehost domain. I keept my me.com location and forwarded my domain to it (maybe it was a stupid thing to do, but there was a message at blue host not recommending to change the CNAME and I kind of went for it).
Right know I'm a bit uncomfortable with the me.com showing as my web site address.

So I imagine I have 2 options and a question for each of them:

1- I can mask my me.com address - how can I do this?
2- I can finally change the CNAME and publish throw my domain - What will happen when people enter my previous me.com address? Is there a way to redirect?

What would you do in my position?

I like to mask my domain. I think it looks better. Only downfall to masking the domain is that it won't ever change. It'll just keep your http://www.1000hangers.com on ever single page.

To mask your domain just go to your registrar (ie: godaddy) and in the MyDomain area there should be the option to mask it. I use GoDaddy, and if you need help with that I can help you with that.

You could do the CNAME change, but it can make the address on the top extra long. Either way it's a personal preference.

Could you explain in more detail what masking your domain is? Is this a way to shorten the ridiculous web address I have? (http://web.me.com/geppetto425/Site/Welcome.html)
Is there a way to shorten it to jeff'swoodshop.com??? thanks

Masking your domain is you getting to choose what people in the address bar when they go to your website. It is just as you said, the way to shorten the long MobileMe address in to something more simple, like just your .com address. I have taken everything off my website for the time being, but if you go to http://www.7nine77.com you can see the front page. The real address for the site is http://web.me.com/rosewater_foundation/7977/main.html which i think is long and ugly. So I mask it.

Like I said earlier, it only has one downfall I know of. When you choose to mask your domain, it will stay that way on every page. When I did have my site up, every page said http://www.7nine77.com. If they went to the portfolio page, it wouldn't have 7nine77.com/portfolio, just 7nine77.com. I found it only a minor thing, so I chose to mask my domain.

Guys, I would avoid masking your domain. When you mask your domain, users won't be able to bookmark a particular page of your website. It will always be the main page. Also, when you mask, search engines will have no way of finding other pages on your site and you will most likely not get those other pages indexed.
